Itinerary for 5 days in Burundi

Day 1: A.M
Arrival at Bujumbura International airport, pick up and transfer to Club du Lac Tanganyika hotel (Or any other 4 stars or above partner Hotel). Check in .Welcome lunch.
P.M
Visit of Rusizi National Park for hippos in a speed boat. (Possibility of visiting of the Batwa village according to tourist’s flight arrival).
Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 2:
6h30′-7h30′: breakfast at the Hotel
7h45′: Departure from Bujumbura heading to Kirundo (north of Burundi)
9am: stopover at Teza tea plantations and Teza tea processing factory for 2 hours.
11:00′: Departure heading to Rwegura while enjoying the landscape of Kayanza natural region.
1h15’: lunch at Ngozi Hotel des plateaux or any other comfortable partner Hotel for 2h.
3.15’: Departure heading to Kirundo while enjoying the landscape of Buyenzi and Bugesera natural regions.
17h30’: Check-in at Hotel Rama or any other comfortable partner Hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3:
6h30-7:30: Breakfast.
7h35′: Check-out to visit Rwihinda Lake also named the Lake of birds and its highlands by boat for 1h.
10:00: Driving for 15’ for visiting and watching warriors dance (Intore) for 30’. It is a spectacle showing the way the royal army used to fight the enemy during the monarchy period.
11:00am: Departure for Muyinga city for lunch.
12h15’: arrival and lunch for 1h30.
1h45′: Departure heading to Gitega (2h driving) for visiting the sanctuary of drums and drummers’ performance (Ingoma) which is the most specific cultural wealth of Burundi and world heritage and, visit of the King palace as well (duration 30′).
4h10: Departure heading to the National and ethnographic Museum of Gitega for 30′ visit.
17h00: Check-in at Hotel Helena or any other comfortable partner Hotel, dinner and overnight stay
Day3 is 270km along from Kirundo
Day 4:
6h30-7h30′: breakfast.
7h45′: Departure heading to Rutana (1.30′ driving) to visit Karera waterfalls for 1h.There are two different platforms of waterfalls and they meet 60m down to make one waterfalls and then joining Kerera river.
10h20′: Departure (1h driving) heading to Rutovu to visit the southern source of the white Nile and its pyramid for 45′ (It has been discovered in 1934 by Buckart Wardecker From Germany) and the pyramid have been built in 1938 in memory of those who have been looking for the southern source of the white Nile before and failed such as Pytoremee(Greek),Livingstone and Stanley, Burton, Speke…).
1 pm: lunch at Rutana for 2:00.
3:00pm: Departure heading to Makamba to visit and watch the Gasimbo Dance (a specific dance of the area). Performance duration: 30′.
4h45′: Departure heading Nyanza Lac with good scenery on the Lake Tanganyika.
17h45′: Check-in. Dinner and overnight stay at East African Hotel NyanzaLac on the shore of the Lake Tanganyika or any other comfortable partner Hotel.
Day4 is 250km along from Gitega.
Day 5:
7h00-9h00′: breakfast.
9h15′: Departure heading to the thermal spring water of Magara (45′ of driving along the Tanganyika Lake)
10:00: Arrival and enjoying the thermal spring water for 1:30’.
11h45′: Departure heading to Tanganyika Lodge restaurant for 2h lunch.
2:00pm: Departure heading to blue bay sun beach and walking on white sand for 1h
3h30′: Departure heading back to Bujumbura with good scenery on the Lake Tanganyika and the sunset in DRC’s mountains horizon.
17h45′: Check-in at Club du Lac Tanganyika hotel (Or any other 4 stars or above partner Hotel)
Day5 is 160km along from NyanzaLac.
